Correspondence, ca. 1851-1912.

Twenty-two letters by Rossetti, including six to Frederic George Stephens, and four letters received. Included is a letter (1904) in which Rossetti comments on the illustrations of Phoebe Anna Traquair for "House of Life" (based on the 5th ed. of his brother Dante Gabriel's poems, 1871); provides provenance information on two of his brother's paintings, "Francesca da Rimini" and "Donna della Finestra"; and discusses his re-discovery of a watercolor by his brother of a woman eating grapes (ca. 1864). Another letter (to Stephens, ca. 1851) mentions William Holman Hunt, Sir John Everett Millais, and the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Among the letters received are one concerning Dante Gabriel's studio sale at Christie's, for which William Michael wrote the catalog (1883), and one from the French author Gabriel Sarrazin (1888). Arranged chronologically.
